Beer-cooked sausage hotdogs

Beer-cooked sausage hotdogs

Give hotdogs a new lease of life when you cook them with lager. Beer-cooked sausage hotdogs are as simple as they sound to make and are ready in under 30 minutes.

Prep time: 3 minutes

Cook time: 25 minutes

Servings: 8 people

  • 1tbsp sunflower oil
  • 8 pork sausages
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 100ml lager
  • 1tsp honey
  • 1tbsp wholegrain mustard
  • 4tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 large loaves French bread

Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry the sausages until just golden.

You can cut a small incision into the sausages while you cook them to ensure that they are cooked the whole way through.

Add the onions and fry until they are tender and golden brown.

Then add the lager, honey, mustard and Worcestershire sauce and simmer until the lager has reduced to a thick caramel sauce.

Serve the sausages and onions in chunks of French bread with ketchup.
