5 Sandwich Combinations for Your Child's Lunchbox

Nobody likes to see an uneaten sandwich in the lunchbox at the end of the day. Try some of these lunchbox fillers to keep your child’s interest at lunch time.

Ham, Tomato and Lettuce Sandwich


This BLT isn’t too grown up for the lunchbox because you might still have to cut the crusts off for them.


-6-8 ripe tomatoes, thickly sliced



-12 slices good quality farmhouse white bread, thickly sliced

-8 thick slices boiled ham

-1 butterhead lettuce, washed and dried

-6-8 tbsp mayonnaise


Cream Cheese and Cucumber Sandwich


This combination is perfect for a brown bread sandwich cut into triangles.


6 slices wholemeal bread, buttered if you like

5tbsp cream cheese

1 x 30g pack chives, finely chopped

18 thin slices cucumber

3 slices rye bread bloomer

Olive oil

1 x pack turkey slices

1 avocado, sliced

Cheese and Apple Slaw Sandwich

1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored and coarsely grated

50g (2oz) Cheddar cheese, grated

1/2 spring onion, thinly sliced

1 tbsp mayonnaise

6 slices wholemeal bread, or about 240g (7 1/2oz)
