Almost three quarters of Irish families (72%) use baking as a fun activity to spend quality time with their kids overcoming the stresses of modern life.

With this national love of baking in mind Tesco Ireland’s 148 stores are hosting the Great Irish Bake for Temple Street Children’s Hospital on Friday, April 7th and across the weekend.

This fundraising activity aims to raise €100,000 to support the cost of constructing a new state of the art Ultrasound System and the purchase of new equipment for the Ear, Nose and Throat Department of the hospital.

Temple Street has been Tesco Ireland’s charity partner since October 2014 and to date Tesco has fundraised over €2.3m for the hospital, helping it to buy much needed life-saving equipment.

Christine Heffernan, Corporate Affairs Director at Tesco Ireland, said, “At Tesco we are delighted to be hosting the Great Irish Bake once again for our charity partner Temple Street.

It is always a fun filled day in all of our stores, so pop in to pick up a treat and support the little heroes of Temple Street at the same time.”

Each year Temple Street Children’s University Hospital treats over 145,000 children from across the country and operates the busiest A&E department in Europe. For thousands of children, Temple Street is the only hospital in Ireland they can be treated in.

Through the charity partner programme, Tesco colleagues and customers can help little people from all over Ireland get better and be real life heroes to children attending the hospital.
