Seven Ways to Liven up Dry January

After a season marked by over-indulgence, a month off the booze in January can feel like just what the doctor ordered. It doesn't have to be boring though! Here are some delicious alternatives to alcohol for dry January.

Infused Water

Water may seem boring after all those cocktails we treated ourselves to in December, but serve it with a straw, some fruit, ice and a slice - umbrella optional - and suddenly it becomes much more exciting.

Speedy Smoothies

A drink AND at least two portions of your five a day, a smoothie need never be more than moments away if you follow this clever idea. Just pre-prepare the ingredients in bulk, freeze in a bag and pop a portion in the blender each morning for a fresh smoothie on the go.

This brightly coloured smoothie is a great way to kick start your morning, and sets you well on the way to getting your five-a-day. Kale is packed full of antioxidants and fibre while the coconut and pineapple give this smoothie a deliciously tropical taste.

Must-have Mocktails

Terrific Tea

There’s nothing wrong with a nice cuppa, but there’s a limit to how many you can drink. Why not ring the changes and try a glass of this deliciousness – sparkling green tea? It’s a concoction of green tea, ginger, honey and sparkling water.

Star anise, cloves, cinnamon – have you mulled recently? Heat and spices will transform any drink, not just red wine. Add these warming spices to apple juice or ginger ale for a delicious winter tipple

Dairy Delight

Refreshing, creamy and delicious, a mango lassi hits the right spot.

A blend of yoghurt, tinned mango and milk, it adds a hint of tropical exoticism when the weather does anything but.
